What Happens to Donated Equipment at RecycleComputers4Cancer.org
All donated computers and electronics are carefully processed through one of three streams:
-
Reuse for Cancer Patients and Survivors
The most recent and high-performing computers are securely wiped—meeting Department of Defense data destruction standards—and then donated to cancer patients and survivors in need. -
Resale to Support Cancer Research
Gently used equipment is refurbished and resold, with 100% of proceeds funding cancer research and supporting initiatives at SMCAC.org. As with all devices, data is wiped to Department of Defense standards. -
Responsible Recycling
Older or non-functional equipment is broken down and recycled by material type. All hard drives undergo physical destruction to ensure complete data security.
